The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
