The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is no joke. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
