The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
