The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
