He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
