The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
