The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
