The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
