He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and pastures 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
