The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They (the believers) ask you (Muhammad) about the booty captured (from the enemies) during a war. Tell them, "It belongs to God and the Messenger. If you have faith, have fear of God. Settle the disputes among yourselves and obey God and His Messenger." 1 Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust. 2 who pray regularly and give in alms out of what We have provided for them. 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 Just as thy Lord ordered thee out of thy house in truth, even though a party among the Believers disliked it, 5 Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on. 6 (Remember) when Allah promised to grant you one of the two parties (at Badr), and you wished for the one that was not strong. Allah wanted to establish the truth by His Words and to sever the unbelievers to the last, 7 So that Truth may be affirmed and falsehood negated, even though the sinners be averse. 8 When you were calling upon your Lord for succour, and He answered you, 'I shall reinforce you with a thousand angels riding behind you.' 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
