And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
