'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
