Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
