Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
