[Hence,] O you who have attained to faith, pay heed unto God and His Apostle, and do not turn away from Him now that you hear [His message]; 20 And do not be like those who said, “We have heard”, whereas they do not hear. 21 ۞ The most wicked beasts in the sight of God are the deaf and the dumb who have no understanding. 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 O believers, respond to God and the Messenger when He calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God stands between a man and his heart, and that to Him you shall be mustered. 24 And beware of an affliction that will not smite exclusively those among you who have done wrong. Know that God is severe in exacting retribution. 25 And remember how He gave you shelter when you were few in number and considered weak in the land, ever fearing that the people would snatch you away; but He gave you refuge and supported you with His victory and provided you with goodness, so that you might give thanks. 26 O ye who believe! Betray not Allah and His messenger, nor knowingly betray your trusts. 27 And know that your property and your children are a temptation, and that Allah is He with Whom there is a mighty reward. 28
