Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you (O Muhammad SAW) when you stand up (alone at night for Tahajjud prayers). 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
