The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on fine parchment; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea that is full 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is none to avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
