And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
