The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 for a great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
