The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
