The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
