The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
