Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Till, when We seize with the chastisement the ones of them that live at ease, behold, they groan. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Have they not pondered the matter, or did that come to them, which did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are ever prone to deviate from the Right Way. 74 ۞ Did We have mercy on them, and remove the affliction that is upon them, they would persist in their insolence wandering blindly. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
