The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On couches, gazing, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
