The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
