The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
