Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
