Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 We then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, "Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days." Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening). 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Do the people of these towns now feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 Can they, then, ever feel secure from God's deep devising? But none feels secure from God's deep devising save people who are [already] lost. 99
