The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
