Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
