Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 excusing or warning, 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 So shall We make the later ones to follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 Which We placed in a depository safe. 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
