The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
