We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
