And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
