(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that [they who reject thy message, O Muhammad, fear lest] thou ask of them a reward, so that they would be burdened with debt [if they should listen to thee]? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud." 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars. 49
