Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
