But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
