And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
