a good many of olden times, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
