Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah). 2 and the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departs. 4 There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 and spread much corruption in the land. 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Not at all but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 And urge not on the feeding of the poor. 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and thy Lord comes, and the angels rank on rank, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 Serene soul, 27 Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: 28 So enter among My servants, 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
Almighty God's Truth.
