The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
