The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
