The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
