He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
