The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
