The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers. 1 true believers are those whose hearts tremble with awe at the mention of God, and whose faith grows stronger as they listen to His revelations. They are those who put their trust in their Lord, 2 Those who pray steadfastly, and spend of that which We have provided them, 3 Are true believers. There are for them (high) ranks with their Lord, and pardon and noble provision. 4 As your Lord sent you from your home (to fight) for the true cause, a section of the faithful were averse, 5 Disputing with thee concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death and they (actually) saw it. 6 And when God promised you one of the two parties should be yours, and you were wishing that the one not accoutred should be yours; but God was desiring to verify the truth by His words, and to cut off the unbelievers to the last remnant, 7 that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however averse the evil-doers might be to it. 8 When you prayed to your Lord for help, He answered, "I am sending to your aid a thousand angels in succession." 9 And Allah only gave it as a good news and that your hearts might be at ease thereby; and victory is only from Allah; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
