We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
