Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 (This is) a recital of the Mercy of thy Lord to His servant Zakariya. 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 He said: "Lord! My bones have grown feeble and my head is glistening with age; yet, never have my prayers to You, my Lord, been unfruitful. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 who will be my heir and an heir to the House of Jacob, and make him, my Lord, satisfied' 6 "Zachariah, We bring you good news of a son whose name shall be John. We have not given such a name to anyone before." 7 "How can I have a son, O Lord" he said, "when my wife is barren and I am old and decrepit?" 8 Allah said: even so! Thy Lord saith: it is unto Me easy, whereas surely I created thee afore when thou wast not aught. 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 So he went forth to his people from his place of worship, then he made known to them that they should glorify (Allah) morning and evening. 11 "O John! Hold the Book with all your strength." We had bestowed wisdom upon him while he was still a child; 12 And compassion from Ourselves, and chastity; and he was extremely pious. 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. 14 Peace on him the day he was born, and the day he dieth and the day he shall be raised alive! 15
