The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels ranged in ranks. 1 And those who drive [the clouds] 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, and the Sustainer of all the points of sunrise! 5 We have indeed adorned the lowest heaven with stars as ornaments. 6 and have protected it from every rebellious satan. 7 They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. 8 Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment; 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. 10 Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 When they are reminded, they do not pay heed, 13 And whenever they see a sign, they mock at it. 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 When we have become dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then verily be raised? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say: 'Yes, but worthless' 18 The Day of Judgment will come within a single roar and they will remain gazing at it. 19 They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense." 20 "(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie." 21
