Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
